BOOK WEEK!

students put in an amazing effort dressing up as characters from their favourite book, to celebrate book week. Students brought in a gold coin donation to help the Marine Ambassadors raise money for the Dolphin Research Institute. All students and teachers had a terrific day.

Science Works Excursion

Just a reminder that Thursday, 24^th of July, Grade 5 students will be travelling to Science works to participate in a number of Space related activities.

As Science works is on the other side of the city, we will be leaving promptly at 9am! Therefore students will be required to be at school no later than 8.50am and will be returning by 2.30pm.

Students will need to bring a small backpack containing the following:

-         Their snack, lunch and drink bottle in a plastic bag

-         A rain jacket

Term 3

Welcome back to school everyone!
I hope you all had a nice and relaxing break.
This Term in 5SG, we will be focusing on a range of Topics including an Inquiry unit in Space, Information reports in Writing, our CAFE and daily 5 program in Reading, Multiplication and Division and Money in Maths number, as well as conducting a range of Chance and Data experiments.
Students will be participating in fun and exciting experiments as part of Aspendale Gardens Primary's annual Science week, where they will have the opportunity to make predictions, conduct experiments and analyze results.

I look forward to another great term in Grade 5SG!

House Athletics Carnival

Yesterday, students competed in our Inter House Athletics Carnival. It was a fantastic day and students had the best time. all the students dressed up in their house colours to show their support.

school camp

Grade 5 camp at Cave Hill Creek was absolute fantastic.

Activities included Abseiling, Canoeing, Archery and  Bike Riding.
Students took part in team building activities, Skit nights, the Disco and Team Trivia.
all students participated with a smile and were a joy to have.

HARMONY DAY

 Students came in the traditional dress of countries other than Australia to celebrate Harmony day. Others wore the Harmon Day colour, orange to recognise the event. We had a special assembly, followed by a variety of activities recognising all cultures living in Australia and around the world. it was a terrific day!

Parent Helpers

Hello Parents!

We would love some parents to help out in the classroom during English and Maths sessions. Parents would be required to come and read with students, or help small groups with Maths tasks.

English blocks usually run between 9 - 11
Maths block are usually 11.30 - 1.30
(These are obviously subject to change depending on the day)

You do not have to commit to every week, or for the whole 2 hour block. Half an hour to an hour would be suitable.

If there are any days you have available and would like to help, please give me a call at the school or shoot me an email. You do not have to have the formal training in order to help, however you must have a 'Working with Children check' (which is free for parents)

We had a fantastic time on our excursion to the Melbourne Museum and the IMAX yesterday!

Vege Olympics

To celebrate the 2014, Sochi Winter Olympics, we have been busy creating our vege athletes to compete in our 2014, Grade 5 vegetable Olympics!!!
